“This week it hit me that I really only have a month left before the babies are here. Not sure why I thought I had longer, but I don’t!! I’m not worried, just kind of dawned on me. Third-trimester insomnia hit me this week and I wasn’t prepared. Got my Tdap shot, so ready to roll on that front! I’ve also started feeling worse around 4 or 5 pm consistently, even when I take heartburn medication.” Lauren, 34 weeks pregnant with twins.
5 tips for a better 34th week
Don’t feel guilty about taking your time
Before you get too big, too tired, or whatever, finish the nursery now!
When you sit or lie down, elevate your feet above your heart to lessen leg swelling.
Delegate, delegate, delegate! Ask willing family and friends to help with last-minute tasks.
If you’re still employed, inquire as to whether your place of business has a cot you can use for your lunch break.
Last Weekend/Contractions
I came close to going to the hospital several times over the weekend to be checked to see if I was in labor. Recently, I’ve been experiencing a lot of contractions, some of which are fairly regular. I initially mistook the heartburn for labor pains because I wasn’t sure what it was, but now I know it’s just heartburn. Fortunately, I’m doing fine and haven’t started labor yet, but it was touch-and-go and painful for a while.
