Jordan Cashmyer and Derek Taylor parted ways after the ’16 and Pregnant’ episode aired.
Genevieve “Evie” Shae Taylor, Jordan’s first child, was born on March 7, 2014. She and Derek, the child’s father, split up soon after their 16 and Pregnant episode aired on MTV.
After her parents disowned her, the episode followed Jordan as she tried to find a place to live and a job, according to People. After the episode, she was given a postpartum depression diagnosis, and tragically, in November 2014, she made an attempt on her life.
“I have been struggling with a lot of different things emotionally since I had Genevieve,” she wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post, per Radar Online. “I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and was on medication for a little while for it, but I never followed up with my appointment. My mood wouldnt stay stable for very long. I was extremely impulsive, couldnt focus, the smallest things would set me off, and my anxiety got worse, as did my depression and OCD.”
Jordan reportedly checked into rehab in the summer of 2016. Within the subsequent year, she was detained on multiple occasions for drug possession. In 2017, there were also rumors that she worked as a sex worker. Article continues below advertisement.
Jordan celebrated one year of sobriety in January 2021, and things started to get better. Lyla, their first and only child, was born to her and her fiancé Michael Frank Schaffer in June 2021.
But shortly after, in September 2021, Michael passed away at the young age of 30. Michaels cause of death is not publicly known.
